Joining Plaster Corners

Joining Plaster Corners

For this project we would be working with the plaster molds we had made earlier in the semester, when running on the table, and joining them together to form a trim. The first step we did was to create a wooden frame, then we applied a lathe to the frame and coated the lathe using the three coat plaster technique. Once the plaster had set on are frames we then measured each corner of the frame and used those measurements to cut our plaster trim. We then scored the back of the plaster trim to help it adhere to the 3 coat plaster frame. Once the trim was in place and dried we poured plaster into the gaps in the trim and smoothed the corners to blend the pieces of trim together.
