Running Plaster on the Table

Running Plaster on the Table

For this next project we will work using a horse to run on the table, to create plaster molding. The "horse" is a template with a plaster key attached to it. the horse is then attached to a "slipper" which will run along a smooth surface, in this case a granite table top. the plaster is then forced through the key given a shape of the mold to be created. first, a mold is drafted of the desired molding shape. then a key is made on soft zinc metal, It is cut in the shape of the template and all edges are smoothed down. the key is then sanded clean on the front and back to keep plaster from adhering to it. Next week we will use the horse to run plaster mold on the table.

Here you can see the zinc metal key, nailed to the horse. The horse is then screwed to the slipper, which will sldie along the table.
