Molding an Antique Latern Arm

Molding an Antique Latern Arm

In this project we were brought an antique lampost made of a very soft metal, probably lead, and asked to duplicate it. The peice had apperantly be broken at some point and repaired with superglue. The peice was then lightely pressed back to its original shape and then I created a box to hold the mold. The design of the box was to be able to get a good mold while at the same time having it be as small as possible so as not to waste materials. After the box was constructed clay was built up and the lantern pieces were placed in, then marbles were placed in the clay to give it a good key for when we finish pouring the other side.
